Michel Pelletier was born in Lyon in October 1943. His artistic qualities were evident from his earliest years. He was only fifteen years old when he held his first show in his home town and many others were quick to follow. He likes to convey his love and appreciation of landscape through his watercolours with a special emphasis on Provence and Bretagne.
Pelletier is not hostage to particular techniques or schools of art, or indeed to a particular medium. Rather he concentrates on personal development that enables his art to evolve and adapt to the times we live in. He believes that his landscape art should reflect the essence of man and his environment. If that milieu is tinted with colours the canvas will also be coloured.
His style has emerged over time; shades have become shapes and his style bold and daring. He loves the atmosphere of landscapes, musicians and fishermen. He always questions himself as he paints and at times surprises himself with the outcomes. Inspiration can come from a wheat field, a cypress or a farm. A quiet walk in a familiar countryside can unexpectedly reveal a luxuriant landscape.
He takes the images into his mind, makes notes and produces sketches. Back in his studio he puts brush to paper and brings his memories to life.
He has published several books, all of which are now sold out:
- 1996 "LYONAIS, BEAUJOLAIS MACONNAIS."
